I think we can both agree that we need to stop dwelling on the past. I'm not saying forget it! I couldn't if I tried. But it's causing us both considerable pain when we try to talk. It's possible to remember what happened, without bringing it up every time.

You asked me sometime back if I wanted to stay away still. To give you the straightest answer possible, no. I don't want to stay away. I do want to understand you, maybe more than you want to understand me. If possible...I would like to try being friends.

I want you to come with me when I get my second crystal. When your first crystal fills up you will need to take the journey to where I need to go. As we've all said, without the crystal to protect you this dying world will drain you dry. It would be good to come see what you need to do.

[ He... finds this a little unsettling to read. To him, the events of the trial and the execution are too fresh in his mind. But Komaeda isn't wrong. When he stares at this letter, he knows that he isn't wrong and he hates himself because of it. Thankfully he's in his room because he'll just yell into his pillow, angry at himself for his own weakness, and it shows as shadowy tendrils surround him.

It's spiraling into something he hates and he really doesn't want to dig it up again.

Thankfully he doesn't run into Enoshima while he's like this, because otherwise he would snap.

[With all that's happened, it might seem like Hinata's somehow escaped Junko's attention for the time being. It'd make sense, wouldn't it? What with her focusing on people who aren't on the island anymore, the Arehtei representative thing, and working on building new bridges to burn with people from other worlds, it's completely understandable and makes perfect sense that she might put him off to the side despite their past.

Except the important thing here is that Junko doesn't really make sense. So no, sorry Mr. Protagonist, she hasn't forgotten about you at all.

And there's a very special day this week, isn't there? Not that she's actually going to act on the day itself. That's far too predictable. But sometime around the first, either shortly before it or the next few days after it, Hinata can expect a messenger bird with what appears to be a collections notice.

But they seem to have made a mistake. Because it's not addressed to him at all. No, instead it's very clearly addressed to Izuru Kamakura.]

In reality, he's striding down an aisle of the science section on his way to the history portion. He had actual plans to check old maps against the new ones to see how significant the changes are.

[ It's the park, the weather completely average for the time of season and everything relatively normal for a day in Empatheias, and Red just so happened to spot the older teen while making his way through. They might not be too acquainted with each other, but he's a familiar enough face anyway to make Red stop upon approaching him, speaking up. ]

Hey-- it's Hinata, right? How have you been?

[ Well, that definitely caught him off guard, as he finds himself widening his eyes in surprise, mouth agape. ]

[He's been trying to get Hinata all morning. From the moment he saw the creatures to now. His anxiety and fear have built up until it's nearly a fever pitch. The dial tone is driving him crazy. When it finally ends his emotions blaze like a bonfire as his words come out in a rush.] Hinata! Are you safe?! Do you need me?! I've been trying all morning and I couldn't reach you.

I was worried something happened after, [Komaeda slowly pulls his emotions back in but the warm love and worry, mixed with a protective anger remain in swirls like a powerful wind. He can't quell it right now . Not until he knows how Hinata is. He will rush to Hinata's side if he is needed. Coming for him like he promised. Injuries be damned.] After what I saw a little while ago.

[ Of course, when he hears the familiar voice, he can't help but be somewhat surprised. He can hear the worry and the intermittent static isn't helping either. ]

[ It's late. Hinata actually opted to sleep in early, but since he has his amulet on his person at all times, he immediately jolts awake, the sound of a scream (a rather girly one, mind you) can be heard through the connection. He's sorry, Sonia, just give him a moment to actually compose himself. ]

[He'd called that morning, just like he's been calling every day. There's little else he can do other than work on things from the outside. He's too close to the case and far too bias.

Whatever Hinata had been doing before that moment, Komaeda invites him to walk through the mental space he'd crafted yet again. The night sky stretches over their heads with the familiar earth stars glittering in the heavens. A soft cool wind whispers through the grassy hills, carrying with it the familiar scents of wet grass and damp sand. In the distance, the waves crash against the sand.

Just like the last time Komaeda sits on a blanket, by a camp fire with a mug of steaming tea in his hands. He looks up at Hinata's approach and smiles faintly.] Hey.

I don't have much to report. I just wanted to see you.

[ It's too strange to hear the waves -- as unreal as they are -- in his head as Hinata decides to sit next to him, adjusting his tie. ]

It's fine if you don't, because... I do. It's nothing in related to the murder. It's just that I remembered a little bit more about my time in Hope's Peak.

[ A beat, as he finds himself hitching a breath. ] You remember the Twilight incident, don't you? Apparently I remembered Kuzuryuu's sister transferring into my class. I guess laying down in a prison cell does that to you.

[ He feels so... small and alone at times, honestly. ]

7/29 Voice - morning

[Today is the day. He doesn't quite know how to feel especially not after yesterday. So much has happened since the very first day he decided to find a way to cure himself. He knows he could put it off, stay in reach of Hinata who isn't telling him what's wrong.

But, he has to do this. Now before anything happens. Or he might not have the chance for a while.] Hajime...today is the day.

[He struggles for words for once. He hadn't planned what he'd meant to say at all.]

I thought about putting this off. We've been through a lot lately...mm, some of it needed to happen and I feel like there's a lot I should say while I'm feeling like this.

I know...something's wrong with you right now. You furrow your eyebrows when you're thinking pretty hard and the expression on your face... [His voice dies away and he finds his hands clenching of their own accord. Maybe he should put it off. Maybe he should stay-

But he'd sacrificed himself time and time again for others. If he does that now in this relationship...]

I want to talk when you're ready for that. Like I told you before until I'm sure of the side effects, I'll be staying with Master Mu at the edge of town. It's...for your safety. I'm not sure what is going to happen. How I'll be when I'm truly healed instead of just a temporary feeling based on a dream. But I know I won't stop loving you. Or believing in you.

...I don't know what's ahead and that's exciting!! ...and terrifying. In all the years I've been alive, I've never felt like my life was my own. If this works. My life...instead of just surviving. [He'd clamped down on it. Held it back but his control cracks, exposing the affection, and the fear, wrapped around a core of determined resolve.]

[ A part of him wants to respond back, but he doesn't. It hurts more that Komaeda can see right through him, but all he can do is knit his brows and sigh. There's no point in responding to him, and instead he just stares at the ceiling. If Komaeda's not going to be around, then he supposes that there's always Nanami...

But, no.

He needs some time to gather his thoughts together, comprehend the situation of his past that's getting unlocked, piece by piece, little by little. He can't help but bring his arm up towards the ceiling, staring at his hand, remembering words that the past Hinata Hajime said.

Komaeda, he's... going to Peromei. And he just remembered exactly why he said yes to the Kamukura Project. Everyone kept on calling a talentless loser like him 'trash', a person who could never amount to anything. There was a time when he believed in that. That he was empty.

But because he was empty, there was one thing that he could only do. He could fill his empty self with talent. Become hope. He would show everyone what he learned from his one and only friend. The only person from the main course who would even bother hanging out with him. The girl who looks like the person who lives with Sonia, but isn't her.

All he can do is sigh on the bed he's at, all alone. He knows Komaeda wants to talk to him, but Hinata... he isn't sure if he should even talk about it. This is all about the past. Something that isn't relevant here and now. It hangs on his mind, sure, but still, it shouldn't.

He's supposed to be creating his own future... but for now, he's just going to think upon the past, his heart almost stilling at the prospect that he had actually said yes. He knew it, of course, but to actually hear himself hurts a lot more than he thought it would. ]

[He knows that he should wait until they're in person to talk to Hinata about what transpired earlier. He approaches him from inside their house, sitting on the edge of his work desk.] Hajime, I need a moment of your time.

... What is it?

[ Thankfully, Hinata isn't doing much; he's just simply sitting down and reading a book. When Komaeda calls him, however, he finds himself setting the book down on the table, peering his green eyes up towards him. ]

[It's an absence, less than a presence. Like the void opened up and beyond it lightning splits a dark sky. There's no ground, just darkness to stand on. Finally a call as intangible as smoke whirls through, and stars fill the sky.

The ground becomes a solid stone road up to a waterfall crashing against the waters of a river below. Stars fall through the waters as if the heavens and earth as connected. At the top of the stone road there Komaeda sits. He's paler than usual, his white hair sticking to his face in places. He turns his head at Hinata's approach and rises to his feet. He meets him halfway, and starts to reach for him, pauses and then does it anyway.

Like countless times in the past, he runs his fingers along his jaw.]

Hey. I missed you.

... I'm sorry.

[ His voice is apologetic -- and instead of standing, Hinata himself floats in space, bringing his other hand to cup the hand that's on his jaw. ]

I made you forget about me. [ Well, made him forget about Kamukura, anyway. ] You've been pushing yourself too much. Are you okay?

[It had been a fairly good day. They'd spent it together, having breakfast in and out at the markets for their usual stocking up on groceries and lunch.

Evening has descended on the city and if he leans a little out the window, he could hear the hustle and bustle of the night time. Komaeda turns, catching Hinata's hands as he draws him towards his work room.]

It's this way. I've been working for months on it...

[He pushes open the door, thrusting it wide. The light from the hallway falls across a oak-wood sword stand, brushing across the metal threads that form an elaborate woven web like guard to protect a hand that would close around the plain hilt. Komaeda steps into the room, lighting the overhead lantern and the light illuminates the curved blade of the scimitar. He places his hand on the blade and straightens under his touch, glowing the same color as Hinata's red eye.

He steps away, the blade returning to a plain curved blade.]

...Every time you're far from me, I wanted you to have a reminder I'm always with you. It's hard for me to believe in forevers but, I'll try for you and this will make me breathe easier when we're apart.

[He takes it from the stand, breathing slowly as he offers it, hilt first.]

It will reshape to suit you. I do better with narrow blades, so it takes that shape for me. If I were to wield it, it would become a knife for me. [The weapon thrums in his fingers, full of the faith, love, and determination he'd been working into the metal since he sat in on the forging of the blade.]

...I haven't made many weapons. I'm learning new things every time I add dunamis spells to enchant them. If it starts to have any trouble, let me know. I didn't give this weapon a name, because I thought you might like that honor.

I see. I guess you can say it's perfect for me, since I have the ability to use a variety of weapons.

[ Of course, when he takes it, it seems to transform into a rapier and he can't help but practice with it, hitting the air before putting it down. ]

[ And as he says that, he sifts through his backpack before grabbing a small box, handing it over to him -- it's clear what the object in question is, too. ]

It's not much, but... I want you to have it. As a testament, I guess. It's a little embarrassing and cliche, but I put everything I had into making it. If you want to take it as an engagement ring, you can. [ NOT THAT IT IS. Of course, the ring's design is rather unique and what he'll find if he looks under it, he'll find that Hinata engraved Komaeda's name - in Japanese - underneath. ] You shouldn't have any problems wearing it, but if you do, let me know and I'll adjust it later. I might need to adjust it when we get back home, anyway.

[Hinata will receive a package containing various peculiar looking berries, though he might recognize one or two of them based on what Cilan showed him with a mental image during that mission exploring one of Daimonia's lands, including the Figy berries he spoke of before.

There are notes indicating which berry is which and what kind of flavor each one has. There's also a few ideas regarding what they can be used as ingredients for, but otherwise Hinata is free to experiment and do whatever he likes with them.

Though, the note does say that if you do use them, we would love to hear of the results, good or bad. Until then, Merry Christmas!]

[ While Hinata has had a long day, it isn't as if he was doing anything too important. Plus, he knows that voice when he hears, thanks to having the same talent as Mioda. But when he does, he looks at Sakakura with stern eyes, as he says only a few curt words. ]

Get to the point. [ Even if he already has an inkling as to what he wants. ]

June 2nd, early morning - action dr2-dr3 spoilers

[The front door bangs open and a wind howls through filled with thunderous fury and bone deep despair. A chain rattles as Komaeda follows it inside, shutting the door quietly behind him. For a moment he stands wrapped in the storm of his own making. Despair rolls from him in dragon scales that swallow the light.

He takes four steps and sags against the wall, just Komaeda Nagito again. The wind still rages venting its fury. Control is beyond him. He's too tired. His coat has burn holes at the bottom. He slides all the way down with a sigh. In a minute he'd seek Hinata out if he didn't approach himself.

When he isn't still furious with events and himself for how things turned out.]

[ It's the loud sounds that set Hinata off. Of course he was already dressed for work this early in the morning, wearing his usual shirt and tie as he opens the door from his room. ]

You're back. [ He doesn't smile nor does he ask what happened. ] Welcome back, Nagito.

[She pauses a moment, the pause isn't very long but it's long enough to correct herself.]

[She was looking up a bit as if she wasn't sure about it. There were talks and she was curious about it. But at the same time she wasn't really sure what to do. Would it be canceled and time skipped? Would she have to debate whether to steal someone's lunch or not? Perhaps she would run into a princess and have to show her around the fair?
