Listen to me right now. Did Komaeda-san ever once ask you to choose between him and Nanami-san? I know for a fact that she wouldn't do something like that.

[She takes a deep, shuddering breath before speaking again.]

I know for a fact that it is perfectly possible to have feelings more than one person. Allowing yourself to move forward with one person is not disrespectful to the other. We learned that when Nidai-san returned, did we not? It might not be the same sort of feelings, but it is a similar situation.

And not to be pessimistic, but nothing here is guaranteed. Doesn't it behoove ourselves and those we're associated with to take advantage of the time we have together?

[ He... isn't going to shout. No matter how much he wants to, he plans on keeping his calm. Or at least, he's trying. ]

I get what you're trying to say, but -- I couldn't just make a huge decision like that without understanding my feelings on matter. Because for the longest of times I was scared that maybe I'd wake up, back on the island, and the 'Komaeda' that I would find was not the one here. But the person we saw back then!

I was scared that I'd be betrayed again!

[While he might be trying to keep his calm, Sonia's had too much on her mind to keep it all in check and anger, fear, disgust, envy and sadness all compete to try and make themselves known both in her voice and over the crystal. It feels like the perfect storm for despair, which is why she cuts the connection quickly.]

[After a few moments, once she's reined everything in and can form words that aren't filled with self-pity and all of the other ugly emotions she keeps buried deep down, she reaches out to Hinata once more.]

Taking your time to figure out your feelings isn't the problem. That, actually, is fairly logical, considering our situation. And your fear is valid. I also fear that I will wake up back on the island and it will be the two of us with Souda-san, Owari-san and Kuzuryu-san and I will be out of someone who has been the best friend that I have been lucky enough to find.

But I have not let it stop me. If we let fear dictate our lives, we might as well just turn ourselves over to the Future Foundation, yes?

[ He can feel it all and he takes it all in -- on his end he tries to hide the fear; disgust towards him only reminds him of those times. He can practically hear it now, in his head. The taunts they said back then --

"He has no talent."
"It's pointless."
"His parents are stupid, too."
"You can just pay your way in."
"They want him to succeed that much?"
"Must be nice being rich."

It hurts. The envy he feels now emanating from her comes from a different source, but it's the exact same feeling. ]

I get it.

[ His voice is tenser than it usually is, and it pisses him off. ]

But I don't like the idea of feeling like I'm forced to choose -- it's not fair to them, I feel, that I just can't.

[She lets out a painful, sympathetic sigh and sends her own affection for her friend towards him over the crystal.]

Who says that you must choose either of them? It is not conventional, for sure, but there is a way that you can have both. Neither of them are the types to want you to be unhappy at all. Nagito-san and Nanami-san are both surprisingly giving people and they care for you deeply.

Please don't think that you have to hurt either one of them to be even remotely happy. In this instance, you can have it all, Hinata-san.

[Be the harem protagonist. Reach that potential!]

[ He can't help but feel a little guilty. Although Hinata knows the kind of people they are, he still can't help but worry. It's stupid. It's really stupid. And yet. . . ]

[He'd called that morning, just like he's been calling every day. There's little else he can do other than work on things from the outside. He's too close to the case and far too bias.

Whatever Hinata had been doing before that moment, Komaeda invites him to walk through the mental space he'd crafted yet again. The night sky stretches over their heads with the familiar earth stars glittering in the heavens. A soft cool wind whispers through the grassy hills, carrying with it the familiar scents of wet grass and damp sand. In the distance, the waves crash against the sand.

Just like the last time Komaeda sits on a blanket, by a camp fire with a mug of steaming tea in his hands. He looks up at Hinata's approach and smiles faintly.] Hey.

I don't have much to report. I just wanted to see you.

Hinata-san, I am glad to have helped you. I only hope that you will remember that more than your feelings are involved in this situation. There are three of you. And I don't want to see anyone hurt.

[She doesn't want to see Nagito look like that ever again.]

[ It's too strange to hear the waves -- as unreal as they are -- in his head as Hinata decides to sit next to him, adjusting his tie. ]

It's fine if you don't, because... I do. It's nothing in related to the murder. It's just that I remembered a little bit more about my time in Hope's Peak.

[ A beat, as he finds himself hitching a breath. ] You remember the Twilight incident, don't you? Apparently I remembered Kuzuryuu's sister transferring into my class. I guess laying down in a prison cell does that to you.

[ He feels so... small and alone at times, honestly. ]

A burn to his senses so sharp and bright, it was like he had been on fire. It had felt so g- He jerks his head up and slaps his cheeks once.]

Ahaha, I feel like the memoryloss is coming undone.

Did.... something happen, Komaeda?

[ He looks at him with a rather questionable look, worried. Did he remember something? And does he want to talk about it? ]

[It's actually a good thing Hinata had called him by his last name. He might have had an issue otherwise.]

...I remember Hanamura's cooking. And Saionji pouring...his 'special' soup into our lunch.

[His face turns bright red and he looks the other direction.] We all ate it not knowing this...including our teacher.

Special soup?

[ He pauses and then proceeds to ask: ]

Wait. Nagito-- [ Let's try this first name thing again as he leans in close to look directly at him. ] Was... Nanami there? Since you mentioned 'we'.

Y-yes. Hajime, it was a soup laced with aphrodisiacs.

[Kill him now. He leans back a bit. Hinata is very attractive and very close. He exhales hard. Focus.]

She punched him out.

[Komaeda swallows hard. Hinata needs to stop thinking about that scenario. He suppresses a shiver and laughs quietly.] Yes.

[ He wants to curse under his breath and he feels his face turning a bright red under the pressure, especially with Komaeda's low voice. Ugh, how annoying. ]

Hajime, you didn't exactly hide it.

[He looks away to compose himself. Once they get four months...almost five now of that kind of tension he imagines this easy to rile up will go away. Maybe.]

...a-anyway, doesn't it feel like our memory recovery is speeding up?

Shut up! I didn't know you could see that...!

[ If he knew, he would have tried to hide it. Alas. ]

Y-Yeah. Do you think it's... weird? That it is.

It's a little strange. [To put it mildly, he thinks as he leans so he's right up against Hinata. He's tempted to kiss him. He hasn't gotten to do that all day.]

We don't know what effect this world has on what was done to make us forget. It could very well be the connection to the Arehtei or even our progression as Dunamis wielders that is doing this to us! I don't know.

I'm a little terrified. I know what I was like as Servant! ...I'm not sure I want to know why I shattered and was remade into that. He made wars all for the sake of trying to craft that hope he so desired. But it had to be birthed by his hand!

He was a selfish, callous, pathetically drenched in despair man who gave very little damn beyond that. I'm not even sure he knew he was broken. ...but I won't be that. Even if all of you disappeared, [He climbs into Hinata's lap and wraps his arms around his neck.]

I will never be him.

[...]

Nagito. I don't think I ever told you this, but -- [ Correct him if he's wrong. Like, seriously, go sore wa chigau yo on his ass. ] You know how it was supposed to erase our memories? It. . . didn't erase mine. Not really.

[ He just simply repressed it all. ]

But... I know. You won't. And I'm not going to disappear.

I won't let you disappear. [He'd joke but this is serious. Komaeda leans in, his breath fanning over Hinata's mouth. In a whisper he breathes,]

I told you. I will always come for you. No matter where you went, I'd find a way to bring you back or follow you. Nanami would be right behind me. Haha, I'm sorry. [He smiles, and places Hinata's hands on his hips.]

Both of your partners are crazy. I think you're the only sane one here! Unless you're as mad as we are. Oh well, you love us anyway, right?
