Simpathis...trapped in there?

[ He repeats it with full surprise, and there returns that tension on his face, the queer look expressed Hinata's way while his mind is processing that information. He's always thought the arehtei was connected in some way to the island, but, in the crystal--? ]

How? She's supposed to be dead, but... [ ...but so what? He knew that didn't mean much for some of them. But his mind doesn't want to wander too far into his own thoughts, attention returning to Hinata. ]

Wouldn't the arehtei already know something like that? It's their sister.

... Yeah.

[ He swallows hard, and shakes his head. ] Komaeda got this theory after talking to one of them, actually. Or at least, he had it from before -- they -- didn't want to say anything, really, it seems. I'm planning on talking to one myself to see if I can't get any answers.

So... you think they knew she was in there? [ If she's in there. ] What did they say to him that gave him this idea?

I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. But when Komaeda offered his theory, he was... deflected, I guess.

[ ...That sounds like a Thras thing, and Red doesn't even know why he thinks that. ]

If she is or isn't... Wouldn't it be the best place? All the emotions feed into that crystal, and I remember reading that - some part of us is in our crystals too. So...

[ So why not even an arehtei? But the subject has his sight lowered, quiet, taking a moment to speak up again. ]

I figured the people here had to be connected to her in some way, but I never thought about her being this close.

I don't know if it's good or bad that all of the emotions are feeding into that crystal.

[ He honestly doesn't like the sound of that. Even more so if part of them is in their own crystals. ]

But we'll probably find out if we're wrong or right sooner or later.

People believe it helps keep the island afloat too. There may be more to it than we like, but... that isn't anything unusual.

[ Not for this place. ]

What matters is how we deal with what happens, whatever it is. That's about the only thing we can control right now.

[He's been trying to get Hinata all morning. From the moment he saw the creatures to now. His anxiety and fear have built up until it's nearly a fever pitch. The dial tone is driving him crazy. When it finally ends his emotions blaze like a bonfire as his words come out in a rush.] Hinata! Are you safe?! Do you need me?! I've been trying all morning and I couldn't reach you.

I was worried something happened after, [Komaeda slowly pulls his emotions back in but the warm love and worry, mixed with a protective anger remain in swirls like a powerful wind. He can't quell it right now . Not until he knows how Hinata is. He will rush to Hinata's side if he is needed. Coming for him like he promised. Injuries be damned.] After what I saw a little while ago.

[!!!]

[ Of course, when he hears the familiar voice, he can't help but be somewhat surprised. He can hear the worry and the intermittent static isn't helping either. ]

K-Komaeda! Calm down, I'm fine! [ Although Hinata is worried, just as worried, really, he can hear the panic in Komaeda's voice, meaning that he has to be the one to keep his emotions settled. ] So you heard and saw that, too?

[ It's unnerving, sure. But it isn't anything that he can't handle. Or so he tells himself. ]

Yes. [His panic is slowly settling. Hinata is fine. Sonia is fine. Kirigiri he needs to look in on. Silver as well. Lloyd he knows is alright as well. He hadn't been panicking or angry so Colette is alright. He breathes out as he adds,]

You know I don't sleep much. So I was up when they came through town. That's never happened before.

Whatever they were...it was nothing good. [The static is aggrivating his broken control but he puts himself back in order long enough to say.]

Where are you? We should talk more about this in person.

... Yeah, it definitely didn't sound good in the slightest bit. I'm worried about what might happen.

[ And it definitely shows in his voice. ] I'm in my apartment right now.

...I know who might have an idea but, I'll have a talk with her soon enough. If I find out anything I'll let you know. I'll see you shortly.

[It doesn't take much time before Komaeda is at Hinata's apartment. He'd been on the end of his rope when he'd tried to contact him that last time. So he hadn't been that far at all. He uses the hospital issued cane to rap a tune on his door.]

Hinata. It's me.

[ "Her"? He has to wonder who exactly he's talking about; was it someone they both knew? But he doesn't give him any time to answer as the connection seems to be cut, no thanks to the intermittent static in the air and he finds himself sighing, deciding to lay down on the bed, staring at the all too familiar ceiling at this point.

So they had both worried about each other. Hinata... he knows the reason why and he can't help but feel something twist in his chest. It hurts, but he can't exactly comprehend the reasoning behind that pain. He's physically alright, so it's just emotional pain.

But when he hears the knocking on the door, the familiar voice, Hinata immediately hops off of his bed, not even bothering with the sheets as he quickly opens it, revealing the somewhat mentally exhausted Hinata. Who seems to have a bit of a bed head. ]

Feel free to come in, Komaeda.

[ The room's the same as always; it's a little bit bigger to accomidate more people, but... it's the same general layout as the island one. Plus the couch he was given. ]

[For once it isn't someone Hinata knows yet. Probably for the best their new research team member is a bit on the cranky side. Komaeda takes one look at the disheveled looking Hinata and his expression of concern turns to worried furrow of his eyebrows. In no time at all he sweeps the other into a one armed hug.

All his anxiety and worry color the air in a swirl of snow and the ozone scent of an approaching storm. It only lasts a minute before he has himself under control. Yes. He had worried. Once he calms down he steps inside with a heavy sigh.] I think we both should try talking to Aiada about it. Peromei much as my friend is a sweet and helpful sort, might not react well.

And at present, Aiada is our closest source to anything that comes from below.

[ Eyes widen slightly at the sudden hug, slightly surprised by the revelation. Of course he's fine, but it's more or less that he's exhausted. He didn't get to sleep since he saw that. . . ]

Alright. Even if we don't find out about what those creatures are, we might be able to find out other information, too.

Like how many times in the past the dead have gotten that angry. [Komaeda limps over to the couch and settles in. He's so damn glad it's here. He's pushed himself a bit too hard.]

The city have to do more repairs to the sewers. I took a look over there and...they clearly came from underground. There was no trail of energy I could see. Or evidence left beyond the damage.

[He peers at Hinata again as he adds as if just continuing to discuss the problem.] Did you sleep at all, last night?

I wonder... if they're jealous of us. I mean, we can come back to life but they can't. [ It's a statement almost out of scenic nowhere, but is still just relevant enough for him to say it. He wonders if this is what that other class feels. . . about the mutual killing games. Their deaths were realer than the ones in the virtual world. ]

And I slept a little [ not at all ] after I heard that.

[ Well, at least he's a better liar to Komaeda's face now. ]

That is something Aiada told us. She's been trying to quell their rage for quite some time. It went terribly wrong and that's why they surged to the surface.

...if you want to get some more sleep, I could stay and keep an eye out for you. If that would help. [Or he could nap too. Depends really on what Hinata wants. Neither of them has slept all that much.]

Don't worry about me, Komaeda. I'm not tired anymore.

[ Or rather, he couldn't get himself to sleep even if he tried. It's the first time that something like that has happened, however; he wasn't usually the type, considering that he's slept through a lot of horrible shit. ]

What about you?

You. Have trouble sleeping. [Komaeda raises an eyebrow. But he doesn't push it. This isn't the normal circumstances. He leans back against the back of the couch.]

Ah, well. I could take a rest for a while. I've been active all morning. [He's loosely saying that he rushed about to aid the people and trying to find him at the same time.] Until we know who the target was. There's little to find.

I'm not having trouble sleeping, Komaeda. You know me. [ He slept through plenty of things, after all. And he's a weenie who collapsed because his brain couldn't take how weird things were.

Yeah. ]

Guess so. Do you think they might go after more people?

[ Or was this a one time deal. ]

According to information I just aquired from a contact, [Two conversations at once? Yes, he has that kind of focus.]

I don't think we have to worry about people being picked off. It specifically went after a killer.

[Komaeda makes eye contact with Hinata as he speaks his expression oddly neutral. It falls away as he gets up from the couch. He walks over to the bed and speaks low. He looks worried.]

It ate him.

..... what?

[ That's it. That's his reply as he just looks at Komaeda flat faced. If he wasn't awake earlier, he sure as hell is now. ]

It ate him but not in the conventional sense. More like melted wax poured into a mold. When it was over, [He sits on the edge of the bed. The mattress creaks and sags a little under his weight.] He was gone.

Seeing as he's killed repeatedly in this world I assume this was the world's reply. It's a theory but it holds merit. People like us are not going to be targets unless we resume our bloody history. Which, neither of us will.

You didn't have to give me that mental picture, Komaeda.

[ He replies flatly, narrowing his eyes. He didn't ask for him to expand on what actually happened; it was a rhetorical "what". ]

So you're saying if someone starts killing people in this world. . . that's going to happen? [ Of course he knows that neither of them will. Nor Sonia, as well. But there's something he has to ask about. ] If that's the case. What will happen to indirect killers?

[ He wonders if Junko will kill directly at this point; instead using other people to kill for her. ]
