So you're saying that... what Enoshima is trying to do is provoke Peromei. Making her angry on purpose so that Peromei can attempt doing horrible things to her. Have people see that publicly and cause people to be afraid of the Arehtei by seeing it live, and in person instead of just hearing it from stories.

If it gets out of hand, we might have to find a way to calm the people down. [ Because there are many ways that this can become problematic. ]

[With all that's happened, it might seem like Hinata's somehow escaped Junko's attention for the time being. It'd make sense, wouldn't it? What with her focusing on people who aren't on the island anymore, the Arehtei representative thing, and working on building new bridges to burn with people from other worlds, it's completely understandable and makes perfect sense that she might put him off to the side despite their past.

Except the important thing here is that Junko doesn't really make sense. So no, sorry Mr. Protagonist, she hasn't forgotten about you at all.

And there's a very special day this week, isn't there? Not that she's actually going to act on the day itself. That's far too predictable. But sometime around the first, either shortly before it or the next few days after it, Hinata can expect a messenger bird with what appears to be a collections notice.

Let's go over the plan one more time. Shall we? [Komaeda's mental voice has that calm to it usually associated with whenever he's explaining whatever he's researching. In reality, he's striding down an aisle of the science section on his way to the history portion. He had actual plans to check old maps against the new ones to see how significant the changes are.

Give me five minutes. [ Maybe even less, considering that he's actually running to get there. ]

It shouldn't take me longer than that.

[He lengthens his strides. Komaeda checks back over his plans. Hinata would come across him napping by the map scrolls. He'd leave his journal out. If the cult were going to be obsessed he wanted to see if he could make them aware their world is changing. It is worth a try he thinks as he walks into the history section and walks towards the maps.]

I'm nearly in place. Give me ten minutes to set up.

Alright.

[ He nods to himself; Hinata's taking his time in walking (because have you seen his running animation) since it's taking him longer than it takes for him to actually get there. ]

Are they there, by the way?

No. The librarians don't put up with it. [He'd have hid in the library all day every day but he has a job and duties to attend to. He pulls down the maps needs and carefully spreads them out. Just like he'd thought there had been some drastic changes. He pulls out his journal to write down his findings.]

I'll have that nap now. So no one will suspect a thing. [He pauses mid writing to scrub at his face in seeming exhaustion. Two times he tries to write and fights with sleep. And for the dramatic finish he just gives up and sits with his head bowed, one hand propping his chin up, supposedly having a power nap. He'd done it here all the time so it's nothing new.]

[ Just work in the library forever, problem solved. It does, of course, take him quite some time to arrive. And when he does, he's already out of breath, heaving as he catches himself. He needs to keep his calm, and that much is easy to do.

He's got the scissors and a plastic bag as he slowly makes his way through, making absolutely certain that he doesn't fuck up.

Slowly..... slowly..... okay, just a little closer, and then he can bring those scissors over. That's how this works, right? Right. ]

[It hits him as he senses the approach that he utterly trusts Hinata to be so close to him. But it does take a moment to soothe sudden nerves which doesn't make sense to him. Komaeda sighs softly, making himself a tad more comfortable.]

[ It's the park, the weather completely average for the time of season and everything relatively normal for a day in Empatheias, and Red just so happened to spot the older teen while making his way through. They might not be too acquainted with each other, but he's a familiar enough face anyway to make Red stop upon approaching him, speaking up. ]

Hey-- it's Hinata, right? How have you been?

[ hey dude what's up ]

[ Well, that definitely caught him off guard, as he finds himself widening his eyes in surprise, mouth agape. ]

Ah, yeah... it's been a while, hasn't it? I've been doing alright, myself. What about you?

I've been fine. Actually, [ and maybe part of what prompted him to come over, ] I was thinking about you a few days ago and your announcement about Nagito's birthday. Did everything go okay?

That's a relief.

[ Hinata wears a calm smile, laughing a little. ] Yeah, Komaeda's birthday went well. He was really surprised.

That's great! I wanted to give him something during the festival, but I didn't remember what day his birthday was on... and I didn't want to ruin the surprise. He seems like the kind of guy who'd catch on if I showed that I knew. He's really perceptive about things.

[ Or definitely, definitely seems the type. But then Red laughs a little, a light chuckle. ]

He's really good at tennis too. [ ah, actually- ] Did he tell you he kept getting thrown inside the maze during the festival? He said he only made plans with one friend. [ oh ] Was that you?

Yeah, I can attest that he's perceptive about things. He was like that on the island, too.

[ When Hinata was pretending to know nothing about their plan and he caught onto them anyway. But him being good at tennis is... new? ]

He didn't tell me that. [ ... ] And I don't think that was me. It might have been Silver, probably.

[ But then he realizes that last sentence he said and bites down on his tongue. Ouch. ]

Yeah? [ He nods; if there's anything weird about that, Red doesn't really notice. The most weirdest part is only planning to meet one persona and work the entire time during a festival.

But that doesn't have him attention the most, his head tilting slightly. ] But an island? Is that where you two know each other?

Yeah.

[ He nods as well; somewhat quiet. Remembering the island gives him mixed feelings, really. ]

That's where we met, actually.

Oh? Was there something there you both went there for? [ It's nosy, but it's an innocent enough question to Red, too. An exhibition, a trip... ] It must've been strange meeting again like this.

. . . Yeah. Something like that. [ Which he won't talk about. ] It was definitely strange, that's for sure. Although I knew I was going to see him again.

You must've really connected back then. [ That's nice, really. He's never thought that about someone, himself.

But a thought pops in Red's mind, visible in the light change in expression. ] Say...are you trying to figure out the machine that showed up with him? I've been meaning to ask how it's coming along. [ ... ] But after that vision showed up- if it had anything to do with the tree like people say it was, he must be distracted by it. You're interested in the tree too, right?
